25th annual Disability Hall of Fame

October 19 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

On October 19, 2018, the Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons (CFPDP) will be hosting the 25th annual Disability Hall of Fame induction. The event is designed to recognize the remarkable Canadians who work diligently to make unprecedented contributions to enriching the quality of life for people with physical disabilities.

This year’s extraordinary inductees are:

  • ●  James G. Kyte – Athlete: The first legally deaf player in the National Hockey League

who now dedicates his time to promoting inclusion and accessibility in his motivational

    speaking career.

  • ●  Alvin Law – Achiever: A Thalidomide survivor who has served as a UN spokesperson

and has raised over $175,000,000 for various charities.

  • ●  Rt. Hon. Brian Mulroney – Builder: Former Canadian Prime Minister who was

dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities. Perhaps most notably, he appointed the first Minister Responsible for Disabled Persons.

Founded by the CFPDP, this inspiring and informative event first took place in 1993 at Metro Hall in downtown Toronto. The Disability Hall of Fame continues to recognize nominees across Canada who have truly made a difference.

The Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding achievement in volunteerism, the arts, sports, rehabilitation, science and medical research, advocacy and public policy. It is located at Metro Hall, 55 John Street.

About the Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons:
In 1985, Honourable Vim Kochhar and his fellow the Rotary Club of Toronto-Don Valley organized the First Annual Great Valentine Gala. The event was such a success that The Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons was created. Its goal is to assist individuals with physical challenges to live fuller lives and raise awareness of their achievements and contributions to society. Since then, CFPDP has initiated dozens of important projects and events, raising over $30 million.
