23rd Annual Canadian Disability Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

23rd Canadian Disability Hall of Fame Awards

For over a decade, CityEvents had the pleasure of assisting The Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons (CFPDP) in the planning of the annual Disability Hall of Fame awards.  The induction ceremony honours outstanding Canadians who make a difference for people with physical disabilities.

2016 Hall of Famers

This year, the Hall of Fame induction has recognized the following:

  • Marni Abbott-Peter (Athlete category) – A wheelchair basketball player who led Canada’s national women’s wheelchair basketball team to three gold medals and a bronze in her four Paralympic Games appearances. Now retired, she focuses on giving back to the community by coaching as she works to develop junior wheelchair basketball athletes.
  • Tim Frick (Builder category) – A celebrated head coach who championed major innovations in sport development and science. He has trained Rick Hansen and Terry Fox and also coached Canada’s Paralympic team. He has helped teach athletes what being a team is, and how to be unified.
  • Terry Kelly (Achiever category) – A blind musician who has released seven full-length recordings which has earned him seven East Coast Music Awards and nominations for four CCMA and a JUNO. Terry continues to use his music to help youth reach their full potential, honouring and supporting our service men and women, and supporting the disadvantaged and Canadians with disabilities.
